New Haven Bike Month Calendar

 

Fair Haven Day Festival​

​Join neighbors for Fair Haven Day, a parade and festival celebrating community, local arts and artists, culture, sports, creativity, entrepreneurship, and partnership, presented by and for the Fair Haven neighborhood. During this festival, there will be numerous bike activities including (1) A Bike Rodeo hosted by NCAT; (2) Free Bike Repair Clinic by Bradley Street Bicycle Co-op; and (3) A Free Bike Giveaway sponsored by The Devils Gear Bike Shop.

When: Saturday, May 3rd — Parade at noon, Festival 1-5pm

New Haven Bike Party: Celestial Bodies​

Join for a slow bicycle ride exploring 8 miles of New Haven with music, drinks, and new friends. Theme for May 2025 is Celestial Bodies.

When: Friday, May 9th Meet at 7:30pm and leave at 8am

Where: Meet at the flagpole on the New Haven Green

Wake Up the Green​

The Proprietors of the New Haven Green will be celebrating Wake Up the Green Spring Festival on Saturday, May 10 from 10:30-4PM on the New Haven Green. The event will mark the start of spring and encourage the citizens of New Haven to get out and enjoy our beautiful city and the New Haven Green! To open the event, a reenactment of Powder House Day is held, taking place at 10:30 AM. To learn more about Powder House Day, read more below.​ Wake Up the Green is family-friendly, leashed pet-friendly, and open to all! Community activities are free to participate in with options to shop from local vendors and purchase food & drink. There will be various biking activities (TBD) during the event!

Bike to Work Week​

Join for the BIG week during Bike Month: Bike to Work Week! Throughout the week, we will be hosting various Bike to Work Breakfast around town.

  • Edgewood Avenue Bike to Work Breakfast - Sponsored by NCAT: Details TBD

  • State Street Station Breakfast - Sponsored by New Haven Parking Authority and City of New Haven Transportation, Traffic, & Parking Department: Wednesday, May 14th 7:30-9:30am @ State Street Station (Rain Date: Thursday May 15th)

  • Yale Bike to Work Breakfast - Sponsored by Yale University: Friday, May 16th 7–9am on the Farmington Canal Trail, RSVP here

 

Coffee Outside
Every Friday in May, come wake up and ride to the top of East Rock for coffee! We will meet at 7:30am at BSBC, ride up to the top at a casual pace (no drop!), and then make and drink coffee! Bringing snacks or coffee to share is encouraged.

When: Fridays throughout May at 7:30am
Where: Meet at Bradley Street Bicycle Coop (138 Bradley)

Outspokin' Rides

  • Sunday Outspokin Rides: Meet Sunday mornings throughout May at P&M Market on Orange St at 10am for a no-drop social ride.  The pace is 10-12 mph and the distance is 20-35 miles.

  • Ice Cream Social rides: Meet at the flagpole on the New Haven Green at 5:45pm on Wednesday evenings for a no-drop social ride.  The ride will visit a different ice cream parlor each week.  The ride is 10 - 20 miles and goes at a 10mph pace.  All are welcome.

  • Northampton Ride: Outspokin will be riding from New Haven to Northampton MA (80 miles) on Sunday, May 25th.  We leave from the flagpole on the New Haven Green at 8am.  Coffee stop in Southington, lunch in Southwick MA, and dinner in Northampton.  Cars will be in Northampton for the return.
