About the Event
This two-part bike education class will offer instruction to help you build skills & confidence while learning more about traffic laws in Connecticut, crash avoidance, lane positioning, & basic bike maintenance. Over the course of each session, you will develop your knowledge, expertise, & ability to use a bicycle safely, confidently, & competently for commuting, utility, health, & recreation. You must be able to ride a bike for at least one mile. While the class is intended for all people who can ride a bike & want to improve their skills, it's also a prerequisite for becoming a League Cycling Instructor (LCI) of the League of American Bicyclists. Please register at least 3 days in advance. If you need to cancel, please do so by 5:00pm on Thursday, October 31.
SCHEDULE
- Part One: The basics & rules for riding in traffic (9:00am-12:00pm, indoors)
- Lunch (12:00pm-12:30pm)
- Part Two: Enjoying the ride - bike drills & a group ride through New Haven (12:30pm-4:00pm, outdoors & weather permitting)
AGE REQUIREMENT: NHCAT welcomes youth 14-18 years of age who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The youth & parent (or guardian) must register for the class & remain with the youth at all times for both sessions.
